The latest series of events is starting to worry me. If RIM really is on the wrong side of things, they should have to pay. However, an injunction banning the sale and use of the BlackBerry system all over the United States is wrong – the patents have been demonstrated to be weaker than originally thought.
RIM may have a friend on their side, the Department of Justice has stepped in asking for 90 days notice of any possible injunction. What concerns me is, people in the DOJ are going – “Damn! We really need to be looking at alternatives”. Others are probably not going to be far behind.
